Back...and better than ever!

Northern Rockies Tree School

NRTS was co-founded in 2010 by public and private sector arborists and community foresters in Wyoming and Montana.  The Tree School seeks out organizations and businesses that value, promote, and advance the management of trees in Montana’s and Wyoming’s cities and communities.

Past evaluation comments from attendees that mention “the diversity of educational sessions” and “eye opening, new way of looking at very difficult tree decisions” best illustrate why NRTS has gone from 90 attendees at our first conference in Cody, WY, to nearly 200, boasting a variety of disciplines comprising of arborists, municipal employees, tree workers, urban foresters, nurserymen, foresters, landscape architects, Tree Board members, Master Gardeners, students, and University extension agents, at recent conferences.

The Northern Rockies Tree School is being held in conjunction with the Montana Green Expo, and hosted by the Montana Nursery and Landscape Association (MNLA). The conference is held each year in early January, and includes two components: a Trade Show and Educational Seminars. Seminars and Workshops are featured over the course of the 3-day event, with several opportunities to browse through the Trade Show and visit with 80+ exhibitors. There are also several networking receptions and events hosted throughout the conference. For more information, visit the Montana Green Expo page.

Educational Seminars

Conference attendees are welcome to attend any seminar they wish; they can stay in the Northern Rockies Tree School tract for the entire time, or attend any Montana Green Expo seminars that are of interest. Nationally recognized experts are invited to address a wide range of topics covering both horticulture and business management interests throughout the conference. Members of the MNLA receive a substantial discount on registration fees for all conference seminars as well as discounts on booth space in the Trade Show.
